What is "Salty Paws"?

Salty Paws Marine & RV

Frequently we are asked: where did you come up with the name? Well, if you look to the left, you will see the original CEO's (that's Canine Executive Officers): Lola and Gracie.

Lola and Gracie are boxers, who are our kids and very spoiled. They LOVE to swim in the lake, river or ocean and retrieve sticks, balls, or what ever is thrown. At one point, we bought a little Boston Whaler and named it "Salty Paws". Unfortunately, we had to sell the boat because when we slowed to idle speed, they thought it was their cue to jump off to swim.

ONCE, we went to a Bristol NASCAR race and boarded Lola and Gracie. When we returned, they pouted for 2 weeks as payback for their 3 days of discomfort. Soon after a trip to Talladega, Alan showed me an RV he thought we might like. And, we bought it. I think is was more for their comfort than ours.

Well, the next thing you know, we are traveling with two very spoiled dogs and noticing things we wanted but couldn't find. So we started sourcing parts and accessories for us and friends. Soon our garage was full. In October of 2008, we opened a booth in the Bluegrass Peddlers Mall and within 4 months, we were in 2 more. After about 6 months, we realized that we needed our own store. In August 2009, Salty Paws Marine & RV was born and located at 6104 Bardstown Road (in the Fern Creek Community Center)!

Sadly, shortly after the opening of our store, we lost Gracie to cancer. She was 7-1/2 years old, sweet and was my heart. I wish a Gracie on every pet owner because she was the epitome of smart, loyal, and hardheaded!

Not long after, a new CEO in Training showed up: Arabi.

Another hardheaded boxer but black and white this time. She is learning new things daily and has plenty of chewed-up things listed on her resume. Once we get thru puppyhood, I see a good dog in our future. Lola and Arabi go to the store daily and greet visitors.

As for Lola, she is the head CEO now. She will be happy to give you kisses or bring you a toy to play.

As for Alan and myself, we do the work, while the girls get the attention. Alan has been in the boating business for over 25 years and he can help you find parts that no one else can. Our goal is to provide a store that helps you keep your Boating and RVing Passion alive without breaking your bank. If we don't have it in stock, we can order it in at no extra charge. We are also trying to stock fun items that make your boating, camping, RVing or any experience fun and relaxing.

Come visit us and say HI! We would love to meet you!

Cheers!
