Before You Blow Your BREAKER!
Some great advise from Good Sam...
Take a minute and see how many amps you could be using in your RV or Camper's 30 or 50 amp electrical system. Its surprising how fast the amps add up which causes your breaker or Campsite's breaker to "trip". Knowing the amps of all the electrical appliances in your RV or Camper can help you manage electrical use and prevent the inconvenience of "My Electricity Went Out!" This list is the typical appliances used and the average amps required to operate them:
Air Conditioner: 15 - 17 amps
Refrigerator: 5.7 amps
Electric Water Heater: 12.5 amps
Microwave Oven: 12.8 amps
Electric Coffee Pot: 9 amps
Toaster: 10 amps
Hair Dryer: 10 amps
TV: 2 amps
Dirt Devil Hand Vacuum: 2 amps
Electric Fry Pan: 10 amps
Iron: 10 amps
Food Processor: 6 amps
Crock Pot: 1.5 amps
Heating Pad: 0.5 amps
1,100 Watt Heater: 10 amps
In the morning, if your air conditioning and the electric hot water heater is on, and then you start the coffee pot, make some toast, watch some TV, you ill be pulling 50 amps and LOOK OUT! Most RVs have a switch so you can run only the microwave or the hot water heater at one time - HOWEVER NOT ALL RVS HAVE THIS FEATURE.
Most electrical products show how many watts or amps it takes to operate the appliance printed on the product itself or on the instructions. If it shows the watts, divide the watts by 120 (volts) and that gives you the amps. To get the watts, multiply the amps by 120 (volts).
Its worth your time to take an inventory on the "amps" each of your electrical appliance uses, then you can manage your total usage at one time and this greatly reduces the "My Electricity Went Out!" anxiety.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Salty Paws is selling 2011 Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt
to raise money for
The American Cancer Society to
FIGHT cancer!
The American Cancer Society to
FIGHT cancer!
Last year Friends of Salty Paws raised over $1500.00 to fight breast cancer by buying "Big or Small - Save 'em All"
T-Shirts. What started as a small hope to sell 35 shirts, blossomed
in us selling over 150 and we could have sold more! Our 2011 Goal is
to raise over $5000.00 for the American Cancer Society! This year, we have enlisted the awesome help of Hanger 5 Shirt Company to design and screen print the shirts. We plan to have it in stores by October 7th.
TREASURE YOUR CHEST!
We
choose this theme to reflect our customer's love for travel and
adventure. The shirt is in the design stage now and as we get the
artwork color proofs we will start posting them on our website and facebook page! This year will make you feel like you have just fought cancer while visiting the Pirates in the Keys!
BENEFITING WHOM?
All
profits from the shirts will benefit The American Cancer Society.
And this year, 50% of the funds will go towards the fight against
breast cancer and 50% will go to fight all cancers! Why do this?
Because cancer has affected so many and to polarize one cancer only
helps a few, we want to help many. When color is added, you will
notice a few other ribbon colors along with the pink ribbon for
Breast Cancer; this will symbolize all cancers we hope to fight!
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
In July, breast cancer stole my 53 year old sister, Julie! Two years
ago it stole my dear friend, Cheri Edelen! And cancer has touched my
mom, my dad, my aunt and countless friends. So we are fighting for
them and your family too!
OPEN INVOICE / OPEN BOOK...
We will have on display the quote and invoices of what we paid for
the shirts this year. As we keep tabs of the money that has come in
and gone to The American Cancer Society, you will be able to see what
money has come in and what is going to The American Cancer Society.
Salty Paws makes no money from the sale of this shirt.
